I have been very pleased with this item so far. It is great for any type of fishing situation where a PFD is not overkill. I am able to use it in my inflatable kayak or my float tube. It is also good for wearing in more dangerous rivers when wading. The open shoulder areas are perfect for good range of motion when flycasting or whitewater paddling. I got the oversize version, which was only a good call for me because it will allow me to wear heavier clothing underneath. I am a bigger guy, and the minimum dimension for this vest is about right IF I have a layer or two on underneath. Definitely get the Universal if any of your torso dimensions are less than 52 inches.

Buy this vest! You will not regret it. Comfortable and very high quality. The work bench pocket it a great feature. Holds jigs, flies, and hooks. Lots of storage capabilities and has great mobility. You have your whole tackle box on you and within reach. You will not be disappointed in this vest, so buy it! Universal size. Will fit any adult well between (Med. to 3X size).

I saw this one first at Cabela's website and checked if I could buy it here cause I have amazon prime ;) and it was 10$ cheaper! I bought the universal size and when trying it on instantly I could fasten it easily and swiftly. It's extremely comfortable with and without a shirt. It's winter now in Minnesota. I can only do so much with out being on a lake or fishing at the moment. I mainly got it because I was tired of all the super bright neon colors of other vests, tired of borrowing one from people or using "the guest vests", just the benefits of this vest were perfect too. My range of motion was unhindered. All the pockets are awesome. Extremely light weight. Seems to be durable (haven't truly put it to the test of pulling and stretching it). A lumbar pack would be more comfortable. If you need to a normal backpack will suffice if that's what you brought for a camping canoe trip. It seems like I wouldn't take it off cause it's so comfy.

I have one of these life jackets, and it's definitely a quility built life jacket. I tested it by jumping into the lake one day, even though I cannot swim. Sure enough it supported me in the water without any trouble. If general safety is your only purpose in looking for a life jacket, this one is a safe bet.
Comfort varies with this jacket. While they are more comfortable than less expensive life jackets, they are not particularly comfortable during rowing. The life jacket has a tendency to slip up from my waist during rows, even with a secure fit. If you're just spectating in boat and not doing anything, however, this jacket does just fine.
Alternatives to this around the same price is Cabela's Full Motion Vest. It allows more freedom of movement during rowing, and is much more comfortable.

this is a cheap and effective back up life vest which i use in my canoe to stay safe and legal. I don;t wear it unless conditions dictate that i should, because it isn't the most comfortable thing to wear when paddling. I would not recommend this for kayaking because of its shape. I tried kayaking in this and it just didn't make it.

Okay...it's a life jacket. It's light, looks good and could just save your life if you go overboard. Why pay $150 for something when these will serve the same purpose for a fraction of that cost? We kayak in Hawaii on the Pacific Ocean so these are pretty much standard equipment. They are comfortable when paddling out to the deep water to watch whales.
